Chip-In for Charity

Presented by Sony

$74,000 Raised in 2009 and $674,000 Since its Inception

Chip-In for Charity and Sony

Chip-In For Charity has been a valuable asset for local charities and this year a record number of dollars are hoping to be raised.

The design behind the Chip-In For Charity program is very straightforward. Local San Diego Charities sell specially discounted tickets that are good any one day of The Farmers Insurance Open for $17.00. These tickets provide the purchaser access to tournament grounds, public grandstands and give them the opportunity to watch their favorite golfers play one of the most magnificent courses on the PGA TOUR. The key to this program, however, is unlike any other fundraising programs. Charities keep nearly 90% of  the revenues, no questions asked.

Chip-in for Charity

“The Chip-In For Charity program has proven to be a very beneficial program for many San Diego charities over the years and Sony supports their fine efforts,” said Ed Wallace, Vice President Community Affairs of Sony. “We certainly have enjoyed our association with The Century Club of San Diego.”

The program engaged 48 local charities in 2009 that raised $74,000 to boost the total dollars raised to $674,000 in six years.

“The Chip-In For Charity program allows our non-profit partners to raise as much money as they possible can by selling tickets to our Tournament,” said Tom Wornham, 2010 Century Club President. “I am an old fashioned capitalist. This program rewards organizations for hard work. Organizations are only limited by the number of tickets they can sell.”

Any organization interested in signing up for the Chip-In For Charity program should contact The Century Club of San Diego at (858) 886-4653 or visit the tournament website at www.farmersinsuranceopen.com
