The Support Our Schools Program has raised more than $7 million over the past 18 years.
The Century Club's Support Our Schools program (SOS), presentedby US Bank, is dedicated to serving Greater San Diego area high schools. Formerly known as the highly successful Save Our Sports campaign that benefitted only sports teams, the program was broadened in 2005 to focus on all extracurricular activities at high schools.
Generating a high success rate, the SOS program has raised more than $7 million over the past 18 years. In 2011, it engaged 84 San Diego area schools, raising more than $320,000. The leading fundraisers were Cathedral Catholic High School ($66,453), Rancho Bernardo High School ($28,645), La Costa Canyon High School ($21,658), Mater Dei Catholic High School ($17,000), and Mt. Carmel High School ($16,524).
"The Support Our Schools program has a big impact on area schools," saidSteve Stuckey, U.S. Bank San Diego market president. "We're in our ninth year of partnership and are proud to lend our support to such an impactful fundraiser."
All it takes is a simple step to get involved in the program. Local high schools and middle schools sell specially discounted Any Day tickets for $17.00 to the Farmers Insurance Open through their booster clubs, athletic departments and on-campus organizations. Participating schools retain nearly 90 percent of their sales.
"The Century Club makes quite an impact in the area for San Diego schools, raising more than $7 million in the program's history," said Tom Monson, 2012 Century Club President. "Because schools have received less money per student every year since 2007, the SOS program is becoming increasingly vital during these challenging economic times. Participating schools can utilize their funds in many ways such as supporting sports, bands, arts, dance and drama. Bottom line, the SOS program helps provide the funding to make it possible."
